More than any other card, The Chariot symbolizes the pursuit of a higher goal, despite all adversity. Through strength and sheer willpower, anything can be achieved! But of course, only if you never lose sight of your goal. If you have a plan, The Chariot shows you that it’s worth pursuing.
If the card is reversed, however, you should be cautious with your plans. Because either you lack the willpower, or—perhaps even worse—you’re getting too caught up in the situation and losing sight of what’s important. That sounds very dramatic, but it can also simply mean one thing: You can’t always control everything, and that’s okay. As long as you stay alert, you’ll still reach your destination.
All of this is classically depicted by a charioteer and two sphinxes in front of him, whom he controls. In my version, too, there’s a person with a determined look standing in the chariot. The curtain of stars in the background represents the celestial influence under which she follows her path. And the sphinxes, uh… Dogs? Here, I’ve once again strayed far from the usual depictions and opted for two Borzois—dogs known for their stubbornness. I thought that was quite fitting when it comes to stubbornly pursuing one’s own goals. (Besides, I might be going through a sighthound phase right now...)
