The High Priestess acts as a mediator between things. The two pillars of Solomon at her sides each represent establishment and power, as well as the duality of nature: masculine and feminine, good and evil, negative and positive. She sits between the pillars as a third path, a symbol that wisdom can be gained from opposites. The cross around her neck is not Christian but a sun cross as a symbol of her connection to nature. Her symbols, the pomegranate, crown (here the halo), and crescent moon, stand for power, control, and her connection to magic and the supernatural.

In my version, the High Priestess has been given a clear Catholic touch, which is due to my personal preference for iconic depictions. However, I would still rather understand her as a supernatural medium than a religious figure.

If the card is face up, it can be understood as a signal to listen to your intuition, to find inner strength. If it is upside down, it means that you may have trouble interpreting your intuition correctly and first need to find yourself again to make decisions.
