An angel gazing longingly upwards. I'm not a religious person, but I love the depiction of angels and icons in churches and religious art, even outside of Christianity. Figures with halos always have something divine, superhuman about them. That's why I find it so interesting to play with this. The motif recurs in many of my paintings. Either to elevate everyday figures to a divine status, or to show the loss of power—as in this painting.
